Shepherd's Pie a.k.a Cottage Pie

i am in mood of cooking and baking when i go back to my hometown. too much things to be experimented in the kitchen. (just to impress my mom!) tehehhe....

actually, i really wanna try bake cottage pie and prepare lasagna just after finished the 80 pcs apam mekar. but my mom said, "tooo much food in the house" hence wee have raya feast just around the corner. then, i wait patiently to try my first attempt cottage pie.

just right after Subh prayer, i jumped from bed and do some preparation.. by the way, i don't have proper measurement when come into cooking



Shepherd's Pie a.k.a Cottage Pie

400g minced beef
holland onion (diced)
1 tbsp all-purpose flour
salt and pepper and paprika (optional, depends on your taste)
butter or oil for fried
mix vege, capsicum, celery, carrot (optional)


  1. saute onion, put in minced beef
  2. when beef start cooked, put flour and stir (to make it as gravy, not really dry)
  3. pour your favourite vege, salt, and pepper

mashed potato
7 pcs potatoes (boiled till soft)
butter
fresh milk
salt and pepper

  1. mashed the potatoes
  2. pour in butter and some milk
  3. add in salt and pepper
method:
  1. pour in the beef filling at the bottom of container
  2. sprinkle grated cheese (optional)
  3. cover the top with mashed potato. you can use icing beg to pipe in the potatoes or make some pattern using fork
  4. sprinkle again with grated cheese to get golden pie
  5. bake at 180C for 40 minutes (depends on oven you use)
